This versatile touring backpack achieves its excellent balance of weight and strength by combining UltraWeave main fabric from Challenge Sailcloth with extremely abrasion-resistant 400D material at the reinforced base and water-resistant UltraTNT PSA seam tapes. The Speed Ultra is a modular top-loader that can be completely stripped down, as the hip belt, lid and frame sheet as well as the side compression straps, crampon attachment and ice axe attachments are removable. A reinforced double daisy-chain structure at the front allows precise positioning of the compression straps and attachments. Equally sophisticated and weight-saving is the climbing-harness-inspired carrying system with shoulder straps that remain comfortable while sitting close to the body, and a back panel that quickly wicks away moisture. This refined construction is rounded off perfectly by details such as the Double Skirt-protected main-compartment opening with rope attachment and an adjustable, removable lid compartment.
